Roof Vent air light

Hi,

My roof vent air light has a couple of holes in it. Are these parts still available or does a whole new roof vent need to be fitted?

Hi Daniel,

i replaced the one over the bed a fiew month ago.
It is still possible to get only the milk glas cover, but they are very expensive (~ 100 Euro).

I bought a Seitz Mini Heki Plus it has a clear glas to get more light inside, a blackout blind and is bigger (40x40cm) than the original (28x28cm).

Have a look at the german Fritz Berger Shop for more roof vents!

100 euros? Ouch! The Fritz berger looks interesting, so that is the same size as the original? At least that would mean no cutting of the roof.

How difficult was the cutting and fitting of the Seltz? Are you happy you went for that model?

Yes, the MPK for 42,99 € is 28cm x 28cm (like the original), i'm not realy sure about the roof thickness, because there is no specifikation in the text (but i think it would fit).

I had great respect for the enlargement of the cut to 40cm x 40cm but with the help of this website it was really easy... in this article i describe the installation of my Mini Heki Plus. You can also download it, in the PDF there will be more pictures at the end (but sorry, it is written in german).

Yes, i'm happy with my choise for that model, because it has clear glas (for watching the sky by night ), it has a blackout blind and you can open it more wide than the others!

ich muss nachher mal im Keller nachschauen. Ich müsste noch eine gebrauchte Original Dachhaube rumliegen haben. Ich muss sie mir mal anschauen.

Thanks for the offer Wilfred but all three vents either need, or will shortly need replacing. I had a look at the roof vent download, I didn't realise it had more information than the website version. Looks like a simple installation. Seeing the simplicity, I quite like the idea going aftermarket now, purely as the blackout blind within the vents seems a great idea. Now I need to decide whether to stay with 280mm or go for something bigger like the 400mm you've fitted......
