What is this?

Hi,

This is going to be the first of many questions..... I've got my Hobby and it's great, though I'm still trying to work out what everything does and how it works. I'm going to need to start tracing lots of wires to see what they do, and if they're needed. Some of the wiring has been connected to the main battery rather than the aux battery. Also the voltage gauge is showing the main rather than the aux battery.

Anyway... moving on. I've attached a picture (hopefully), this is on the drivers seat. Does anyone know what these switches do? There are also two flick switches below it. The fuses had blown which I replaced but pressing the switches doesn't seem to do anything?

das ist ja schon ein echtes Bilderrätsel! Ich weiß nicht was es ist, aber eins kann ich mit Sicherheit sagen: Das ist nicht Original!

Ich kann mir im Moment auch nicht vorstellen, wofür es sein soll. Da müsstest Du eventuell weitere Bilder einstellen... also doch ein Rätsel :evil:

I hoped when I fixed the fuses something would happen. The led lights worked so there's power but I couldn't see or hear anything happening around the camper. Guess I'll have to start tracing the wires.....

bevor Du beginnst "ziellos" neue Leitungen zu verlegen solltest Du Dir erst einmal einen allgemeinen Überblick über den Ist-Zustand verschaffen. Manchmal ist es besser, alles alte raus und neu verdrahten :2144:

I do plan to remove everything not needed. I have my multi metre handy so that should help!

the switches are typical for some kind of windowlifter in this case I guess maýbe electrical body lift. It´s certainly okay to remove everything which is not needed, but sometimes it is better to take everything out, and renew the whole wiring, like Wilfried said.

maybe the switches work only when you start the engine ?
Maybe they are part of an 2-way air damping system to lift the camper at the rear axle and the LEDs indicate the state of the squeezer ?
Only a guess...

I tried with engine on and on, and switching on and off a multitude of other switches! I think I'm just going to have to trace the wires to see.... much like the other switches! I'll let you know if I work it out!

Na klar :laugh: Na dann könnt ich mir die Sache mit den Fensterhebern noch gut vorstellen, wobei man dann sicherlich auch an der Tür etwas davon sehen sollte, selbst wenn es eine Version zum hinterbauen hinter die Türpappen ist...

Well.... I had a day off work yesterday so had a full day to start playing! I removed a false front floor which was flat. I removed a lot of horrid red carpet and found a much nicer original light coloured carpet. Anyway.....

I started taking apart some of the wiring. The switch bits are connected to this box (hopefully there should be a picture on this thread!). It looks like a dodgy alarm system. I assume that's correct?

A couple of times an alarm has sounded - I don't know what caused it? But flicking of the one the lower switches stopped it. I don't know why it has these electric window type switches with it - pressing those didn't stop the alarm. Hopefully I can finish off removing this wiring on Friday...... :drive1:

wenn Du Dir einen Gefallen tun willst, dann entferne den ganzen "Kram". Wieviele Vorbesitzer hatte Dein Fahrzeuge? Je mehr, desto mehr unnötige Verkabelung wirst Du finden.
Bei den Downloads findest Du eine Übersicht und die Schaltbilder der Aufbauverkabelung. Bei dem Baujahr Deines Fahrzeugs (ist es wirklich 1984? Dann hättest Du einen der ersten Hobby 600!) muss es Version 2 (oder bestenfalls 3) sein. In Deinem E-Mail Postfach findest Du die Schaltpläne des Ducato.

Finde erst einmal alles, was nicht original ist. Wenn Du es nicht unbedingt brauchst, dann entferne es! Du wirst sehen: es ist wie mit dem Teppich - ohne ist es besser!

Thank you for the wiring diagram. Well, after two days work I've taken (hopefully) all of the aftermarket wiring out. There was so much it was ridiculous. So many lights and switches and buttons which I had no idea what they did. Lots of time tracing all wires to make sure it wasn't necessary. Behind the dash is so clear now!

The strange window type switch leads to the back of the hobby underneath, I assume there used to be a hydraulic lifting type system there. The wires have been cut at the back, so something used to be there!

Anyway... a lovely aftermarket wire free hobby!

jetzt wo Du es sagst: Ich habe schon einige Leute gesehen, die haben sich elektrische Schrenwagenheber unters Heck gebaut. ... aber wenn es nicht funktioniert: raus damit :daumen2:

Dann lag ich mit meiner Luftfederung ja garnicht sooo verkehrt :evil:
